WIXOM — Creative Many Michigan (formerly ArtServe Michigan), a statewide economic development organization for the arts, culture, and creative design industries, has named Shivangee Pandya as the new director for the organization’s Lawyers for the Creative Economy program.

The program is designed to deliver free to low-fee intellectual property and creativity-related legal resources and services to artists, creative practitioners, businesses, and nonprofit organizations.

Pandya will support creative individuals and entities seeking legal services with the client intake process by identifying the existing legal issues and determining the appropriate legal support and resources needed. Pandya also prepares Michigan attorneys to provide artists with basic intellectual property knowledge and resources to support and protect artists’ practices as part of the program through periodic workshops, public lectures, orientations and forums.

Prior to joining Creative Many Michigan, Pandya of Southgate, worked as an attorney at Counsel Advocacy Law Line or CALL, a nonprofit law firm providing a wide range of free civil legal services to low-income individuals and seniors.

Pandya earned her juris doctorate from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit and her Bachelor of Arts in religion and economics from Kalamazoo College.
