Creative Industries Program Manager
Lauren Rossi, Creative Industries Program Manager, works closely with the Director of Creative Industries to design and implement the Kresge Artist Fellows Professional Practice Opportunities program, Resonant Detroit, and the Make+Do workshops developed for designer-makers specifically. These programs are designed to empower and inform the practices of Michigan’s creative industries practitioners, ensuring their economic viability in an ever changing creative ecosystem.
She is the Founder of Seraphine Collective, an inclusive, supportive and active community of feminists designed to foster creative expression and camaraderie among underrepresented musicians and artists in Detroit, and Co-founder of Picnic Club Detroit, an adventure club that fosters curiosity and deeper understanding about the landscapes that surround us through inquiry, play, and picnics.
Rossi worked as Program Coordinator for the 2015 Detroit Design Festival, as well as Education Program Coordinator for Public Programs and Student Engagement at the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA) from 2011-2016. Prior to that she served for five years as a founding member of the small team that worked to build the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) into one of the key cultural venues in Detroit and a contemporary art institution with a growing international profile.Rossi received a BFA in Fine Arts and Art History from Eastern Michigan University. She plays bass guitar and sings in the band Casual Sweetheart.
