Artists looking for recognition, exposure and a prestigious place to have their work displayed are invited to apply as a Featured Artist for the city of Sterling Heights.
The Sterling Heights Cultural Commission is now recruiting creative professionals for its Featured Artist program. Applications are available on the city’s Web site (www.sterling-heights.net) under the “Forms and Publications” section. In addition to the application, artists are asked to send a biography and photographs of their work to the city’s Community Relations Department, 40555 Utica Road, P.O. Box 8009, Sterling Heights, MI 48311-8009. Artists selected will be required to sign a release of city liability.
Selected artists will have their work displayed for a two month period on the lower level of City Hall and at the Public Library on display boards that are 4’ x 15’ in size. In addition, artists will be featured on Sterling Heights Television (SHTV) and have the opportunity to be interviewed by local media.
“The Featured Artist program is a great opportunity for local artists to have their work on display for the hundreds of visitors who visit the city center each day,” said Cultural Commission Chairman Donald Schinzing. “The program enhances the city’s overall quality of life by exposing residents to a wide variety of works from creative professionals from throughout the state of Michigan.”
