Director of LCE Services
Shivangee Pandya, Director of LCE Services, coordinates services and outreach for the Lawyers for the Creative Economy initiative, which delivers pro-bono or low-cost legal resources through a referral process to artists, creative practitioners, entrepreneurs and businesses, and arts and cultural non-profits. Pandya manages the delivery of Protecting Your Practice seminars led by LCE network attorneys and CODE dialogue events convening artists, creatives and attorneys for facilitated discussions regarding legal issues currently impacting the creative communities. She also leads outreach and partnership cultivation efforts for attorneys and legal firms, as well as the artist and creative constituencies served by the LCE program. She joined the Creative Many team in July 2014 on a part-time, contractual basis.
Admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in December 2013, Pandya is a licensed attorney with a strong background in advocacy. She has a long history of working with legal aid services, starting with the Michigan Unemployment Advocacy Project while in law school – where she focused on appellate litigation and public policy – and working for Lakeshore Legal Aid as an intake attorney post-graduation. In addition, Pandya has worked for Michigan Community Resources, as a legal and policy intern, where she learned the ins and outs of creating and maintaining an attorney referral program. Through her private practice work, Pandya gained a background in intellectual property work, primarily related to trademarks and copyrights and nonprofit 501(c)(3) entity formation, both from the state and federal levels. Pandya earned her Juris Doctorate in May 2013 from Wayne State Law School and her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Religion at Kalamazoo College.
